Day 6 - Valencia + Granada

The drive to Granada took about five hours from Valencia. Our little Fiat held up nicely and the time passed quickly. The drive was a great way to see the countryside, and many of the areas reminded us of the central valley. As you can see below, there were also stretches of mountains.

The drop-off and check-in to our hotel was a little hectic. The city of Granada was packed with people and we ended up driving down a narrow road which only allowed taxis. Trever quickly dropped me off with our bags, while he returned the car to the rental place. I was going to wait for him but decided to slowly pull our bags up the stone staircase to the hotel door. It took a while but I finally made it and was able to check in. The hotel was simple but charming and was a great place to stay for the night.

Before the Flamenco Show, we walked up to Mirador de San Nicolas to get a view of The Alhambra. The streets walking up to this spot were fairly quite but once we reached the top, the place was bustling. There were lots of tourists, musicians and local artisans selling their wares. The view was truly amazing and it made me very excited to see The Alhambra up close the next morning.

The flamenco show was held at a large restaurant. There was a small stage where the dancers and band performed and they definitely kept our attention the entire time. The band used instruments as well as foot stomping and clapping to make music. The music and dancing would go from fast to slow over and over again. The dancers definitely worked up a sweat and it was fun to watch.
