Day 2 - Barcelona

The next morning we slept in before heading out to see La Familia Sagrada. We decided to rent bikes from a local shop, which was a great way to travel but made our schedule a little tight. With very little time to spare, we jumped on our bikes and blazed across the city. We parked the bikes, ran over the entrance and learned that our tickets were for the following day. So.... we walked across the street to take a few pictures and figure out our new plan for the day. Although I felt a little deflated our day turned out to be very memorable.

Our first stop was at Hospital de Sant Pau, an old hospital that has been turned into a historical landmark. The history of the hospital was very interesting and the architecture and beautiful details inside each room were truly amazing. We both really enjoyed this site.
We made a quick stop to snap pictures at two Gaudi sites, Casa Batllo + La Pedrera. We were hoping to grab lunch at La Boqueria but they were closed for a holiday. After wandering the streets for a bit, we ended up having tapas near La Rhambla.
Trever thought it would be easy to bike to our next stop, Montjuic, so we used Google Maps to find our way. It was a little unclear exactly where we should go but the ride and views were amazing. We traveled through the botanical gardens and eventually around to Miramar which gave us beautiful panoramic views of the city. I thought we were going to catch a tram but we ended up riding/walking our bikes all the way to the top of the hill.

We both LOVED this day and loved being on bikes. It was the perfect way to explore the city and get a feel for all of the different neighborhoods.
