Spruces Campground
We spent the evening of July 3rd at the Spruces Campground in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The Burgon side of the family has camped there over the 4th of July for many years. We did not camp with them but we did have a picnic dinner. The girls loved exploring and immediately made their way down to the water to throw rocks. This was a popular activity for them at many of the places we visited.
After rock throwing, we had dinner. Jane tried her first drumstick and was a little uncertain. The girls definitely went home with full tummies as there was plenty of watermelon, puffs and other treats to satisfy their appetites. After dinner, we went for a walk and found a little stream where we could throw rocks. We also found a log to practice balancing for those that dared.
The highlight for the evening was the cooking of s'mores. I am pretty sure that Jane has had s'mores but she didn't seem to remember. When I told her what was included in a s'more, she asked if she could have everything on the side, oh Jane! We gave her a s'more with everything smashed together and she was in heaven. Cate was a big fan as well.

We had a fabulous time with family and certainly enjoyed the cooler temperatures of the mountains. Thanks to Kelly and Liz for making this happen, and a big thanks to everyone for loving our girls and teaching them how to have fun in the great outdoors.
