waiting on the stairs to see what Santa brought

The excitement surrounding Christmas was very tangible this year. Jane was especially excited and had many questions about how Santa actually pulls of the whole Christmas thing. Even though a few presents were found before the big day, Trever and I were able to keep the magic alive and she still believes.

The girls were kind to us this year and actually slept in until 7 am. They were excited to go downstairs and see what Santa brought, but they were good about waiting for everyone to get ready. We were lucky to have Mimi and Buddie with us this year to share in the magic. Santa brought Legos for everyone and they were a big hit. I spent a good chunk of Christmas morning putting together Legos with Jane and Cate, which was even fun for me. Jane was able to put together her set all by herself. Go Jane!

In deciding what to get the girls, we stick to 4 categories: something you want, something you need, something to wear, and something to read. Unfortunately Jane wasn't totally jazzed about her new sleeping bag and ballet slippers. I thought she would be excited about The Book With No Pictures, but she had checked it out from the school library just before the break, so this was also a bit of a let down for my girl and she let us know. Oh boy! I reminded her that she loved her Lego set but she said it was from Santa. Right Jane, right.... I guess we will have to get more clarification on wants, needs, wears and reads next year but this girl still scored some great gifts and had a great day.

Cate and Jane are both loving the Princess in Black books, so we bought this one for Cate.

Mimi bought all of the girls slippers and they have been wearing them quite a bit. When Cate opened her tiger slippers she quickly let us know she did not like them. So much for covering up in front of Mimi, a 4 year old is going to give it to you straight. Luckily she changed her minded has been wearing them ever since. Here is Lizzie sporting her new butterfly slippers.

Our morning was low key but so much fun. We had eggs and toast, along with other yummies for breakfast and stayed in our jammies for most of the day. Our girls are at such a fun age and we are trying to soak up all the magic they feel at Christmas time.
