TWO
Birthdays are serious around here! Despite her serious look, Lizzie had been excited about her big day for quite some time. Whenever we brought up the word birthday, she would say, "my birthday!". On her actual birthday we had eggs and toast for breakfast, one of her favorites. I also included a smoothie, which she will never turn down. We tried to get her to wear a birthday hat but she wasn't having it. There isn't much convincing to be done with a 2 yr old and Lizzie is no exception.
The evening of her birthday we ate mac n' cheese and had ice cream cones for dessert. We were lucky to have Mimi and Buddie in town to help us celebrate. After dessert, Jane and Cate were very excited to give Lizzie their birthday presents. I think they were mostly excited to play with Lizzie's gifts because a lot of fighting broke out once the gifts were open. Ai yi yi! Luckily the dust has settled and they are all enjoying the new toys that she received.
Lizzie still enjoys eating the bottom of her ice cream cone first, which can be quite messy.
On Saturday we got together with more family. We had a great time swimming at the pool. The girls especially loved having Ben and Drew in town to play. After swimming we ate dinner and had cupcakes. I put Trever in charge of dessert and he did not disappoint. Jane even helped with the frosting, which may explain the pink tops.
Love this picture of these cute kiddos!
Isabel and her dog were able to join the party as well.
Our serious but no so serious girl!
Lizzie you are such a joy to have in our family. You keep all of us laughing with your funny phrases
and silly sense of humor. Although you are slow to smile at new faces, we all know that you are such a love and that your big dimples light up a room!
You love your duck (wa wa duck), smoothies, baby dolls, your sisters, graham crackers, cheese, treats (teets), reading books, playing at the beach and digging in the sand. You have opinions about your clothes, your shoes and your water cup (blue wa wa). You make sure your wishes are known and definitely let us know when you are unhappy. We don't love when you throw things and yet you have a great throwing arm. You are strong and beautiful and so much fun! Thank you for filling our lives with so much joy and laughter. We can't wait to see what the next year will bring. Happy birthday sweetheart!
