Michigan
After spending time with cousins in California, we headed to Michigan for more family time. Jane was especially excited for our visit and was counting down the days. When we walked off the plane and saw my dad, they girls ran directly into his arms. They were equally excited to see Nana when we got to the curb. I love that they have formed such a special bond with these two and am grateful for the years we lived just across the lake in Chicago.
I had the privilege of flying solo with these three cuties. Luckily Trever was able to walk us through security and take us to our gate. We had a little melting along the way but it was to be expected. Lizzie was less than thrilled to learn that she did not get her own seat on the plane. She is very quick to notice when things are not fair. Luckily Jane convinced her to share her seat and we were able to move on. The first leg of our flight was short and sweet. We had a 2 hour layover in Las Vegas and Jane had A LOT of questions when we landed. Explaining gambling and slot machines to a 5 year old is a little confusing. Oh the questions!
The layover in the Las Vegas airport was a little crazy. Lizzie was melting and Cate did not want to comply with many of my requests, but we made it. After they got some food and were back on the plane we were good to go. Jane and Cate watched a movie and Lizzie finally fell asleep in my arms and was able to take a good nap. These girls had plenty of energy when we got to Nana and Papa's and didn't fall asleep until after 10:30 pm (their bodies thought they were still in California).
The next day the girls played with Aria and Jace. They picked up right where they left off and had the best time. They had a scooter car wash while Lizzie played in the inflatable pool.
Nana bought Halloween costumes for Jane and Cate. Cate's fit like a glove but Jane's took a little more work. After several Costco runs and a trip to the Dollar Store, they were able to pull this look together. Jane was very pleased and she looked adorable! Props to Nana for driving all over to make this happen.
On Sunday we went to church and the girls did really well. Cate walked into her new class and hardly looked back. Lizzie was soaking up the extra attention from Aria. Jane and Aria are like two little mothers, so cute!
We have reciprocal museum passes to the Cranbrook Museum, so we spent one morning exploring the museum and beautiful grounds. The girls loved having Jace along to play.
Later that week we went to the Henry Ford Museum. What an amazing place! The kids especially loved this hands on car exhibit and spent quite a bit of time working on this car.
We saw so many amazing airplanes, cars, trains and tractors. This museum is a must see if you are in the area.
It was so fun to be with our family and the girls to spend time with their cousins. They LOVE hanging with Nana and Papa and were sad to leave. Thanks for hosting our crazy crew, see you soon!
