South Carolina
We left the snow flurries of Chicago for the sunny beaches of South Carolina. We originally bought airplane tickets to Charlotte and were planning to rent a car and drive the extra 3+ hours, but we decided to drive our own car. I was originally opposed to this idea but eventually decided it may be a good idea, and it was. The girls did a great job in the car and the drive through the Smokey Mountains was beautiful. I really loved Kentucky and Tennessee. It was so nice to see flowers blooming and green leaves on the trees. We are just starting to experience spring here in Chicago.
When we arrived in South Carolina, Jane immediately wanted to go to the beach. It was an overcast day but she was eager to get her toes in the sand and feel the water. My Jane loves the beach. Unfortunately she got a bad burn just underneath her eyes on the first couple of days, so we had to take extra care to keep her protected from the sun. The combination of fair skin and six months without any real sun exposure, made her extra sensitive to the sun. But the show must go on and there was no way we could keep her from her favorite place. Here she is enjoying the boogie board with Grandma.
Jane and Jon Bradley enjoyed building sand castles.
Cate was more interested in exploring the less populated areas. If we hadn't been watching her, I am pretty sure she would have ended up on someone else's property. This girl loves to explore.
Brooke organized our first Burgon reunion this year and even ordered family t-shirts.
The bar has been set high.

One of the days we went to the Middleton Plantation. The kids loved exploring the grounds and getting close up views of the animals.
The kids loved spending time with Grandma and Grandpa. They played an alligator game with Grandma, flew kites with Grandpa, read new stories and got lots of extra hugs. These kiddos are so close together in age, I think they will have even more fun at our next family reunion.
On the final night the cousins enjoyed watching a movie together on the couch.
Thank you Brooke and Eric for planning such a fun weekend. We hope to see you soon!
