Weekend in Michigan
We spent last weekend in Michigan visiting family. We left Friday evening and arrived at 1 am. The drive went pretty well until we stopped for gas in Ann Arbor. We didn't mean to go through Ann Arbor but we lost our GPS (hopefully this is temporary) and were using Trever's Blackberry to navigate. Anyway, Jane woke up when we stopped and was not eager to go back to sleep. After leaving the gas station we stopped again, but this time it was because a police car was following us with it's lights on. Oh man! Anyway, we were going too fast, a little lost and the officer must have felt sorry for us because he gave us directions and sent us on our way. Thank goodness!
We arrived at my parents house about an hour later and Jane was still awake. I tried to make sure that the lights were off inside the house and that anyone who was awake was not in view of Jane. You see the last time we arrived late, she woke up and wanted to play until the early hours of the morning. Well friends, we had a repeat of that awful night and all Jane wanted to do when we arrived was play. Trever finally took her for a late night car ride to lull her to sleep but it was only a temporary fix. As soon as he put her into her bed, she woke up and wanted to get out. She ended up sleeping with us which was definitely not ideal. Trever was hugging one edge of the bed and I was curled up in the other corner. After just a few hours of sleep, Jane was awake again and ready to play.
Trever and I took turns napping throughout the day and Jane had a BLAST playing with her cousins. I can understand why she gets so excited because Jace and Aria are so much fun! They also have new toys for her to play with and are willing to chase her all around the house. She also loved the extra attention from nana, papa and her aunts and uncle. I think we could have left her there for a few more days and she would have been perfectly content.
Aside from the sleep issues, we all had a fabulous time. The weather warmed up on Sunday to a whopping 80 degrees. Jane came back from the park with pink cheeks and sucked down her water in a matter of minutes. Sunday evening my dad fired up the BBQ and we had a delicious dinner. We are so ready for Spring and it felt good to be in the warm sun with family.
Other highlights of the weekend include Jane eating dog food for the first time (double yuck) and Katy giving her, her first haircut. :) I have been going back and forth on cutting her hair for at least 6 months and finally decided that she needed a trim. Her cute curls were growing into a mullet and as a mother, I just can't let that happen. She sat very still during her haircut and her curls bounced right back into place when Katy finished her cut. Here are some pictures from the weekend:

Cousins photo. Don't you love the matching jackets? It was hard to get them all looking at the camera at the same time but here is my attempt.
Cute Aria!
We are starting her young.
I love her face in this picture. So serious!
Reading with nana.
Before her haircut.

And after.
Thanks for a great weekend, we hope to see you again soon!
