Utah Trip
We had a 9 day vacation in Utah and had a great time. We were able to see MANY of our family members and even got to see friends. Here is the run down:
Day 1: 1st stop - Cafe Rio, next stop - Grandma Burgons. Jane LOVED playing with her wooden toys and they must be at least 50 years old. The dairy cart and wagon with blocks were a total hit. Some toys are timeless.
Day 2: church with Grandma Burgon, delicious dinner with Kelly, Liz and family (lots of hilarious dinner conversation and good laughs), family gathering with all of the Burgons. It was so fun to see everyone and for Jane to meet her Utah family.
Day 3: haircut for me (hooray), more time with Grandma and visit with Shari and daughter (Trever's cousin and her daughter), dinner with the Browns at their new place (Cafe Rio again, yum!), dessert at Karen's with the Sharp side of the family.
Day 4: spent time with Grandma and Grandpa Sharp, enjoyed time with Jane, explored the backyard, and walked with Grandma (for 90 years old she can really move. She was walking up and down hills without batting an eye. I hope I can move like her when I am 90). We finished up the day with dinner at Sizzler with the grandparents (love it)!
Day 5: morning visit with Grandma & Grandpa Sharp, lunch with Auntie Cheryl and Uncle R, dinner with Ned and family. It was my first time meeting Trever's uncle and I think I have now met almost everyone on the Sharp side of the family. They had a busy household but made us feel so welcome. We had a great time spending time with their family. We took the scenic route home through Midway, Heber and Park City. We stopped at Granny's Milkshakes in Heber and enjoyed a tasty shake. The drive home was beautiful and the sunset was amazing.
Day 6: breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa Sharp and final goodbyes. It was sad to leave but we had a great time. We made our way to Logan and stopped of to see Aunt Janet. She is busy as ever with hemstitching, blankets, etc. and is making beautiful things. The next stop was Bear Lake for the Maughan Family Reunion. We stayed in a beautiful house that overlooked the valley and Bear Lake. We had dinner with family, met Stephanie's new husband and had a great time.
Day 7: played on the beach at Bear Lake. Jane loved putting her toes in the water and had her first taste of sand. We went for an evening walk with the cousins, which turned into a 5+ mile walk in the dark on dirt roads. It was a little unsettling but mostly fun. The views of the valley were great and it was fun to spend time together. They were about to send the search team to find us but we finally made our way home.
Day 8: another day at Bear Lake, toes in the water (it's too cold to put your entire body in the water), rides on the wave runner, fresh raspberry shakes on the ride home and dinner with family. Trever and I played tennis with my cousin Terelyn and her husband Jim. We decided to play boys against girls and the girls were victorious. We won by just a few points which made it even sweeter.
Day 9: our final day in Utah. :( Breakfast with family, final goodbyes, lunch at the airport, 3 hour flight and we finally made it home.
Total grandparents visited: 3
Total aunts and uncles visited: 16
Total cousins visited: 21 (not including spouses)
Total cousins once removed: way too many to count!
I was a little sad to come home after having such a great time with family. We were lucky to see so many people in such a short time and are truly blessed to have such wonderful families. I am not sure when we will make it back to Utah but I hope it's soon!
