Trever Graduates!

Well not officially, but he is pretty darn close. He will defend his thesis on July 1st and then we can call him Dr. Burgon. This past weekend we celebrated Trever's graduation. We were lucky to have Grandma and Grandpa Sharp and Grandma Burgon in town for the weekend. On Saturday we went to the medical school graduation where Trever received his official PhD hood. On Sunday we went to the commencement for the university. Lisa and I had the chance to dress in graduation regalia and were able to sit with Trever during the ceremony. They needed warm bodies to fill the space since a lot of the medical school graduates don't go to the University-wide ceremony, so we put on caps and gowns and made our way to the stadium. The ceremony was entertaining and we were able to witness the "wacky walk". The undergrads have a tradition of dressing up for the commencement ceremony and it's quite a sight. We saw a man in a leopard Borat-like swimsuit and graduates dressed up like In-N-Out employees in honor of the current job market. It felt more like we were lining up for Bay-to-Breakers than for graduation. The keynote speaker was Justice Kennedy from the Supreme Court. We had great seats and were able to enjoy a very inspiring speech about our responsibility to support both freedom and the rule of law around the world.

Overall it was a great weekend. I am so proud of Trever for all that he has accomplished and look forward to our new adventures in Chicago. Congratulations T-bone!

Congratls Trever on both finishing school and the girl on the way. How exciting! It takes a real trooper to finish school and it takes a real man to raise a daughter, as Chris has been told. We hope for great things for all of the new life changes ahead!
