Cate is 3

It takes some work with make the number three with your fingers.

We made a paper chain a few weeks before Cate's birthday to help her count down the days. Our family birthdays are within 6 weeks of each other and Cate's is last one we celebrate. It's hard to be last and waiting for the big event can seem like FOREVER when you are young. When October 17th finally arrived, Cate was thrilled to celebrate her 3rd birthday. 

The morning of her big day was low key. We ate bagels, drank smoothies and sang happy birthday. When Jane got out of school that afternoon, we raced home, packed up the car and headed to Palo Alto. We had a pizza dinner with family at Applewood Pizza. After eating pizza, Cate enjoyed playing with her cousin Ben. These kiddos are too cute!

We thought the kids would enjoy playing outside, so we drove to a nearby park so they could work out their wiggles. After playing for a bit, we sang happy birthday, at eFrozen themed cupcakes and opened presents. Cate was so happy and we were so grateful to be able to celebrate with our California family.

The highlight of the evening was our final stop at the American Girl store. Yes, we bought our 3 year old an American Girl. I thought it was a little crazy to buy a 5 year old an American Girl doll, but after buying one American Girl doll, we quickly realized we should buy another one to keep the peace in our house. I am glad we did it and the girls have really enjoyed playing with their dolls together over the past week.  Here they are at the American Girl store. Her name is Kit (aka Kitty Pie).

Cate, we love you and all of the spunk you have tucked into that 3 yr old body. You are our little comedian and have an amazing laugh that is contagious. You keep us on our toes and definitely make your wishes known. You are determined and fearless and don't let anything stand in your way. You are full of love and are quick to jump into the arms and laps of those you love. We loved celebrating your big day and are grateful each day for the joy you bring into our lives. Don't ever change!
