Memorial Day

This past weekend we were, "On the Road Again!" The trip to Michigan actually felt quite short after driving to North Carolina. We arrived there on Saturday and were able to stay until Monday evening. We enjoyed 3 BBQ's, which made if officially feel like summer (even though we technically have one month to go).  The kids played for hours, reenacting Frozen scenes, riding scooters and bikes, playing in the backyard and "washing" the cars that were parked in the driveway.

On Monday we went to the local Memorial Day parade. The kids had a great time watching the various groups pass by and were excited to collect the candy that was being thrown our way. After the parade, we spent time at the park and enjoy a few of the games and activities.

Lizzie slept through most of the parade but was able to catch the tail end.

Face painting. Cate immediately rubbed her face after it was painted and got sparkles in her eyes. Oh Cate!

A ride on the Farris wheel and flying saucers.

Cate and Trever ended up leaving early so that Cate could take a nap. She was pretty tired from two full days of playing with cousins and limited sleep. I hung around with Jane for what seemed like forever. We were waiting for the balloon man, along with everyone else in the area. After a LONG wait, we eventually got a balloon in the shape of a butterfly which immediately popped when it fell on the ground. Jane was distraught, so I made my way to the front of the line again and asked for a replacement. The things we do for our kids!

It was hard to pull our kiddos away from the fun on Monday evening but we had to get home. Jane fell asleep just before we drove onto the freeway and slept for most of the drive home. We all had such a great time visiting with family and hope to do it again soon!
