Grandma + Grandpa visit

I had one week on my own before Grandma and Grandpa came to town. It was so nice to have something to look forward to at the end of a busy week. They arrived on a Saturday night and were able to stay with us for 8 days, it was heaven! While they were here we blessed Lizzie, celebrated Jane's birthday and enjoyed many other fun adventures throughout the week. On some days we all got out together but there were several days that they took just Jane and Cate. They played at Penny Park, went to Wagner Farms, enjoyed treats together at Great Harvest and made several trips to our neighborhood park. These little breaks allowed me to shower (which doesn't always happen), run errands and just relax for a few hours, what a gift!

An even bigger gift was having Andrea wake up and entertain our girls at 5:30 am each morning. Jane and Cate had been sharing a room for almost seven weeks before we decided to put Cate back in her old room. I originally thought that Jane would wake up Cate once they shared a room but the opposite thing happened. Cate consistently work up at 5:30 am, which also meant that Jane woke up as well. These early mornings make for a cranky Cate by mid-morning and a very sleepy Jane by mid-afternoon. After one particularly frustrating morning, Andrea helped me realize that we just needed to move Cate back to her old room. We needed to try something different and in a few months we can try putting Jane and Cate together again. Since we have moved Cate back, she is sleeping until at least 7 am and Jane is doing the same. I am not sure how the next few months will play out but for now, we are all enjoying a little more sleep.

But back to the visit. We had the best time and were so grateful that Grandma and Grandpa were able to visit. I had a good cry when we dropped them off at the airport because I miss them and know my girls will miss them too. Their easy going, no stress, we can do anything attitude was just what we needed around here. Thank you for all of your love and support, we look forward to visiting you in California when we need a break from the cold.
