Camping trip
This picture sums up how Jane felt about camping. She was SUPER excited for our trip. I wish I had more pictures to capture the memories, but today I share our experiences in words. We went camping with three other families near Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. We booked the site only one week before the big event, so it was a mad dash to get ready. We had a few things to purchase, one of which was a sleeping bag for Jane. She requested pink or purple because they are, "her best." When we brought her sleeping bag home, she immediately wanted to open the box and climb inside of the cozy purple bag. The anticipation built all week and every day Jane would wake up and ask if we were going camping.
Well, the big day finally came and we made the drive to Wisconsin. We had dinner on the road, set up our tents and roasted a few marshmallows before putting the kids to bed that night. Jane was still very excited about sleeping in her new purple sleeping bag until she realized that after a few stories, a prayer and a song, we were going to leave her in the tent with her sister and gather around the fire with our friends. SHE WAS TERRIFIED to say the least. After Trever calmed her down and stayed with her until she fell asleep, she was good to go. The second night she did much better.
We spent Saturday exploring the area, playing at the park, swimming in Lake Geneva and consuming large amounts of food. We had the expected challenges that come with lack of sleep for the kiddos and parents (sigh) but overall we had a great trip. It was a lot of work but I would do it again. Maybe not next week or next month but sometime soon. Thanks friends!
