Last Day of School
It's almost the start of a new school year, so I figured I should post about the end of the school year first. Where does the time go? I want to keep a record of these special days because they are so memorable and our girls have be blessed with such fabulous teachers.
Lizzie finished up her final year of preschool at Marinwood, where I was lucky to be her teacher two days a week. She had three fabulous teachers (four if you count me) and looked forward to going to school each day. She developed a best friend during the first week of school and they remained inseparable for the rest of the year. Lizzie loved art, circle time and being Child of the Week. She also enjoyed playing in the park with friends after school. I will always remember her playing in the fall leaves and rolling down the grassy hill near the parking lot. We will sure miss our preschool friends but are looking forward to a great year in T-K.
Cate was lucky to have Mrs. Bradley for Kindergarten. She was the first one to get ready each morning and truly loved going to school. She made great friends in Kindergarten and was able to form many new friendships. During recess she loved playing in the sandbox, shooting hoops and building with the large plastic blocks. She also leaned how to hula hoop and jump rope.
Over the course of the year, Cate became a very proficient reader. She has grown to love reading and even keeps a headlamp next to her bed so she can read in the morning. Towards the end of school year, Mrs. Bradley allowed her to sit in the loft with the stuffed tigers and read Charolette's Web. She loved this time and I was grateful to her teacher for challenging Cate and giving her such a sweet experience.
Cate was sad to say goodbye to Mrs. Bradley and I was too. I am grateful she will still be on campus next year so that we can still give her hugs and say hello.
Jane was sick on the last day of school and had to stay home. She was really bummed, but was able to participate in many movie days and special events leading up to her final day.
Second grade was especially fun for Jane because she had two of her very best friends in class. They ate lunch together each day and made many fun memories together throughout the school year.
The rubber really met the road this year for Jane and she was challenged across all subject areas. Her love of reading continued to grow and has become one of her favorite things to do. She now brings books in the car and enjoys the opportunity to lay in bed and read when she doesn't have to rush off to school. This past year Jane also did a lot of writing and put together many creative stories. She loves the creative process and has quite the imagination. She will claim that she doesn't enjoy math but she is good at it and does quite well. Jane is curious and is not afraid to speak out and ask questions. She especially enjoys asking questions at bedtime when mom and dad are trying to shut things down. :)
Lastly, we couldn't have asked for a better teacher for Jane. Mrs. Sims is positive, professional and so much fun. She made learning enjoyable and we are so grateful we had her in 2nd grade.
