3rd of July

Painting an American flag at Family Night. Painting is one of her favorite things to do.

We kicked off our 4th of July celebrations on the 3rd of July. We decided to walk because the parking situation is a little crazy. We packed our stroller to the gills and headed for the shores of Lake Michigan. It is a two mile walk to the fireworks, which is normally just fine but it was HOT and HUMID. Trever did an excellent job packing the stroller, so that all of our goods (including the children) would safely arrive at the park.
I tried to a get a few pictures of the girls before we left but I couldn't get one of both of them. Jane is looking the other way and Cate is eating leaves, perfect!
The individual shots were a little better.

I made these fruit wands to share. Ignore the nasty cookie sheet, it works overtime baking chocolate chip cookies for Trever (and maybe me sometimes).
We had a great time at the fireworks. We enjoyed a picnic with friends, Jane jumped in a bounce house, rode a pony and ran around with friends for several hours. Cate fell asleep before the fireworks but woke up with the first big boom. She didn't cry or fuss, she just sat in my lap and took it all in. Both girls had a great time and although it was hot, I am so glad we made the trek. What a fun night!
