Christmas in Michigan

We arrived home on Tuesday night from a fun filled visit with my family. The excitement was high in the Forsberg home and the kids had a blast. Cate was her happy go lucky self and Jane was in heaven to be surrounded by cousins for five straight days.

We kicked off the festivities on Friday night by celebrating my dad's birthday. Jane was right by his side to help blow out the candles, unwrap presents and quickly throw away the wrapping paper (another sign that she is my daughter). After the opening of presents we enjoyed an AWESOME carrot cake, made by my sister Julie. I am still thinking about it.

We spent Christmas Eve lounging around the house, playing with the kiddos and preparing a delicious dinner of black bean and sweet potato tacos. The tacos were a hit and are sure to made again in the near future. Julie made her delicious guacamole and good times were had by all. Here is a picture of Aria and Jane in their matching Christmas jammies.

Christmas morning was so much fun and the unwrapping of presents lasted until noon. The kids were kind to us and didn't wake up too early. Here they are at the bottom of the stairs waiting for the big reveal from Santa. At first there was excitement and then there were tears. Sounds about right for a couple of two year olds, yes?
It took us three rounds to get through all of the gifts and stockings but here is a recap of some of the favorites. Give a boy a train and he is occupied for hours. Trains are so fun and yet so frustrating when they don't stay on the tracks. :)
Jane enjoyed her Olivia books and new Olivia doll.
Nana especially enjoyed her magnify glass, light included. Yes, this was used on several occasions on the days following Christmas. In this picture she is trying to figure out if she had a winning lotto ticket. Sweet Julie gave my dad a fake ticket that was a $10,000 winner.
Jane enjoying her feather boa. Dress up is so much fun!
Cate managed to wake up in time to enjoy some fun.
My dad or possibly Julie gave this little number to my mom. Good times!
Plenty of hugs and holding by everyone. Love Cate's face in this picture.

We also enjoyed plenty of time outside due to the moderate weather (well, for these parts of the country that is).

Thanks for a great visit. We can't wait to get together again soon!
