Outdoor Adventures

One of the great things about living in this area are all of the amazing things you can do outside. We are lucky to have the hills in our backyard and have enjoyed many hikes and adventures over the past few months. A few weeks ago, we found this swing along our trail. It was a HUGE hit with our kiddos, as you can imagine. We have come back to this spot a handful of times and love exploring in this area. There is also a big tree the girls love to climb and plenty of rocks to fall into the streams nearby. Such a beautiful place and so grateful we don't have drive to get this close to nature.

During Jane's mid-winter break (which really felt like spring break)  we took a trip to Stinson Beach. The weather was warm and beautiful on our side of the hill, so a trip to the beach sounded like fun. Lets just say after I packed up all of our gear, got everyone out the door and navigated the grocery store, looking for dinner with three kiddos in tow, I wasn't as jazzed about going to the beach. I was even more disappointed when we started driving into a thick fog on the way to the ocean. 

Luckily Trever remained upbeat and the girls had a fabulous time once they put their toes in the sand. You would never know that it was a cold and overcast day. They ran around in their bathing suits and had the best time! They are constantly teaching me to seize the moment. To have fun regardless of the weather or any other number of things that could cast a shadow on our day. In the end I am glad we made the trip and that we had a chance to make memories on this cold, foggy evening. 

At the end of Jane's break, we spent a few days with Grandma and Grandpa. We were lucky to have Ben with us as well, the girls love to spend time with their cousin. One morning we went to a local park and ventured down to the creek below. With rocks and water nearby, the kids were totally entertained. Lizzie can throw rocks for hours and has a pretty good throwing arm I might add.

On Friday evening we hung out at Seabright Beach. It was a perfect day, kind of like the one we had last year, when we came for a visit and learned about the job opportunity that eventually brought us back to the Bay Area. Hard to believe that it has already been a year since that crazy time in our life.

The kids had a great time building sand castles and dipping their toes in the ocean. The highlight was roasting hot dogs and eating s'mores. Yum!

So grateful for all of these adventures, especially during the winter months. There is a small part of me that misses the snow but it's small and I wouldn't trade it for these amazing winter days we have had in California.
