Fun with Grandma + Grandpa

The day after Christmas, we packed up suitcases for Jane and Cate for a little staycation with Grandma and Grandpa. Lizzie was going to join the fun too but she threw up that morning. We weren't sure exactly why, but didn't want to take any chances on sending her and getting others sick. As is turned out, a nice long nap was all she needed, because she was completely fine the rest of the week. Jane and Cate were lucky to have Ben and Drew join them, which always adds to the fun. Lizzie loves to spend time with her grandparents and cousins, but seemed very content to be the only child at home for a few days.

While Jane and Cate were gone, Trever worked on insulating the attic. It was grueling, and still a work in progress, but progress was made. Lizzie and I put away all of the Christmas decorations and got the living room and family room ready for painting. Trever and I were able to prep and paint both rooms within 24 hours, which felt so good. Now we just need to put together our shelves and hang pictures back on the walls.

Meanwhile the girls were having a blast at Grandma's house. They did science experiments, watched The Swan Princess, played at the park and did plenty of jumping on the trampoline with their cousins. They also enjoyed pancakes, mac n' cheese and a trip to Pizza My Heart. Do you think they missed us?

On Thursday afternoon we drove down with Lizzie to join the fun. We all met up at Wilder Ranch to see the butterflies and play at Natural Bridges Beach. It was a beautiful day and almost 15 degrees warmer than it was at our house. You have to love California in January! While the kids were playing, Trever was able to sneak away for a surf session.

On Friday the big kids headed up to Camp Lehi to gather firewood with Grandpa and Trever. Lizzie and Drew stayed behind to do science experiments and play on the trampoline. These kids are too cute together!

On Saturday we headed up to San Francisco to have brunch at the Cliff House. It's a New Year's tradition in the Burgon family and a place that we always love to visit. After brunch, we explored the Sutro Baths. The kids had a great time exploring and thankfully no one fell in.

And that is a wrap for 2016. Looking forward to more adventures and family time in the New Year!
