7 Years Old

We had a great day celebrating Jane's 7th birthday! She loves parties, gift giving and having the spotlight, so she was especially thrilled for her big day! The night before her birthday, I stayed up quite late putting together her desk. Shortly after midnight, we moved the desk into her room, so it would be there when she woke up. We had to attach one more piece and unfortunately all of the commotion woke her up. When she noticed the desk, she had a huge grin on her face and I was worried she wouldn't be able to fall back asleep. Thankfully she settled in pretty quickly and was nice and rested for her big day.

In the morning Trever made her favorite breakfast crepes (with plenty of syrup). The love and celebrations continued at school, which made for a wonderful day. In the evening, we had mac n' cheese (her favorite), opened presents and had her favorite birthday cake (black and white angel food cake w/ chocolate ganache). Lizzie and Cate were very excited to open presents and Jane did a pretty good job sharing her new gifts.

Jane is such a happy kid and brings such joy to our lives. She is cheerful, friendly and kind to everyone. I am so proud of the person that she has become and have loved watching her learn and grow over the past year. She LOVES school and looks forward to going every-single-day! She made an easy transition to a new school this year, and is loving her teacher. Her reading is really taking off and its been fun to watch her enjoy independent reading.

Jane is our social butterfly and makes friends easily. In fact, she would love to have people come over every day if she could. This fall we had a great time watching Jane play soccer. She worked really hard and was a key member of her team. It was fun to watch her push herself and really enjoy the game. Over the past few months, Jane has also been involved with the Annie production that will be performed in December. Annie has been HUGE in our house this past year, so this whole experience has been very exciting. More than anything, I am proud of Jane for having the courage and willingness to try just about anything.

We love Jane and are so grateful to her in our family. She is a fabulous big sister and such a big help to mom and dad. We have loved watching her learn and grow and will be by her side to cheer her on in the year to come!
