Thanksgiving
We kicked off November by making a Thankful Turkey. I was inspired to create this guy after seeing my friend Alecia create the same thing. This year Jane wanted to write her own words and I love the things she chose to highlight.
We celebrated at the Burgons this year and had a great time with the Burgons and Brubakers. The girls love to spend time with their cousins and always enjoy their time with Grandma and Grandpa.
Before we enjoyed our feast, we were able to take take a hike at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. It was a chilly day but the hike was beautiful and the redwoods are so amazing! The girls even had a chance to climb inside the large tree where John C. Fremont supposedly camped out many years ago. During out hike, they also enjoyed picking up fall leaves and checking out a few banana slugs.
Cate and Grandpa on the trail. She is not a huge fan of wearing her jacket right now but she finally decided to put it on, smart girl!
The day after Thanksgiving, we quickly transitioned into Christmas mode. Brad and Andrea are spending Christmas in North Carolina, so we needed to squeeze in our Christmas celebrations while we were together. They only had a small window to pick out a tree, so to the local nursery they went. The kids loved the free cider and were all in agreement that Jerald would be the best tree for Grandma and Grandpa's house.
We quickly dropped off the tree and headed up to Roaring Camp to ride the train to the top of the mountain. This train never disappoints and the kids had a great time. When we arrived at the top, we were surprised to find Santa.
The ride back down was also exciting! Trever was able to capture this shot of the steam engine blowing. This train is legit!
That evening Grandma pulled out the nativity costumes and we sang a few songs together to kick off the celebrations. The kids were thrilled to be opening their first gifts the day after Thanksgiving and we were all grateful for the thoughtful gifts that were given. We will be hanging our watercolor picture of the Land Cruiser in our living room. We love it!
And that is a wrap folks, onto December! Thanks to Brad and Andrea for hosting another fun weekend.
